According to DIN EN 14153-1 / ISO 24801-2, an Open Water Diver is an independent diver who can dive under defined conditions (e.g., familiar environment, familiar depth range) without the supervision of a diving instructor or experienced diver, with divers of the same certification level. This course teaches all the fundamental knowledge of diving physics and diving equipment, enabling participants to learn breathing, proper movement, and buoyancy control while using scuba gear. Pool and Basic Diver certifications are credited towards this course and do not need to be repeated.
